Vítor Badalinho has a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences. His interest in Digital Media has grown in parallel to its own evolution and development as a global field of studies, particularly in the practice of communication design and database architecture. He took part in several projects studying the availability of Internet services related to the process of global digitization since in the mid nineties.
Through academic research and teaching as a lecturer in multimedia related subjects, he worked in several approaches of digital contents as a live, searchable and socially constructed system, exploring the relationships between the virtual data-bodies and their impact on physical materiality, as well as the innovative strategies and technologies that push the medium to the production of a new knowledge and daily practices, to an array of multiple purposes and applications.
Current studies are driven in the emerging area of augmented reality and its multidisciplinary approaches, in particular in the use of mobile systems provided by built-in GPS and accelerometer/magnetometer devices, creating a augmented reality effect where the user may interact with virtual layers or even modify them. His interest in this area is highly focused in the field of advertising.
