Miguel graduated in Physics Engineering at the Technical University of Lisbon and, in 1999, got his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oxford, in the UK. Since then he has been at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, researching and teaching photovoltaics and sustainable energy systems. He has published over 60 scientific journal papers, about 100 conference papers and 3 international patents. His research interests include solar radiation measurement and modelling, photovoltaics in the urban environment, present and future of photovoltaics in energy systems, and solar electrification in developing regions.
