Sílvia Barbeiro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra. She studied Mathematics at the University of Coimbra and at the Technical University of Berlin. She received her PhD degree in Applied Mathematics in 2005 from the University of Coimbra. She was a visiting research fellow at the The University of Texas at Austin during the Spring and Fall semesters of 2008, at the Acoustics Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences during the academic year of 2015/2016 and at the University of Oxford during the trinity term of 2016. Her research interests are in numerical analysis and computational mathematics, including modeling and the development and analysis of numerical methods for partial differential equations and integro-differential equations. The main applications driving her recent research are in the fields of reaction-diffusion in porous media, electromagnetic wave propagation and image processing.
