Nanotechnologies

Phase 3 (2018-2024)

Nanoscience and nanotechnology have been driving some of the most impactful changes in areas as health, the environment, energy, transportation, and information technology.

With the Program’s seal, this area proposes a new research and innovation agenda, involving complex materials engineering and science focused on an integrated approach to nanoscience over a broad spectrum of applications. Further research will focus on the discovery and development of innovative nanomaterials, with a range of unique properties suitable for applications across space, healthcare, telecommunications, energy, and transportation sectors, just to list a few. The area expects to bring on board relevant stakeholders in Portugal such as the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL)  or the NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) for Dynamics and Control of Materials (CDCM) at UT Austin.
