The UT Austin Portugal Program would like to send out its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Professor Fernando Santana, who left us on January 28.
Professor Santana served on the Program as National Director in Phase 2. He was also Director and Full Professor at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Director of Jornal Água & Ambiente, founding President of the Academy of Engineering, Member of the Assembly of Representatives of the Order of Engineers, Member of the Water National Council and Member of the European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering. In 2015 he was honoured with the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Public Education by the President of the Portuguese Republic.
Professor Santana leaves us with an inspiring legacy, making a valuable contribution to scientific research and awareness regarding environmental issues.
