July 21, 2018. A study requested by the European Space Agency (ESA) to a Portuguese company Deimos Engenharia and British launcher manufacturer Orbex concluded that it is technically and financially feasible to build a space base in Malbusca on the island of Santa Maria in the Azores for launch of small satellites up to 200 kg in weight, using “small, safe and clean” launchers.
