Short-term Research Internships at UT Austin 2025 – Beneficiaries & Hosts
The UT Austin Portugal Program continues to strengthen one of its core pillars: researcher mobility, creating opportunities for scientists to expand their research experience through international collaboration.
In 2025, the Program launched a new Call for Expressions of Interest for Short-Term Research Internships at UT Austin, selecting a cohort of researchers affiliated with Portuguese universities and research institutions to carry out research visits at The University of Texas at Austin.
Between October 2025 and June 2026, nine researchers will spend three to six months at UT Austin, working alongside leading faculty and accessing state-of-the-art research facilities. Their visits will support the development of new scientific collaborations and reinforce long-term partnerships between Portuguese institutions and UT Austin.
The selected researchers will conduct their work across the Program’s strategic research areas, including:
- Advanced Computing
- Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies
- Space–Earth Technologies
- Clean Energy
During their stay, participants will engage in joint research activities with UT Austin hosts, strengthen their international scientific networks, and explore opportunities for future collaborative projects between Portugal and the United States.
The Short-Term Research Internships (STRI) initiative remains one of the key instruments of the UT Austin Portugal Program to promote advanced training and transatlantic knowledge exchange. The experience often serves as a starting point for new research collaborations that may later evolve into joint projects within other Program instruments.
Below you can find the researchers selected for the 2025 edition, including the research area in which they are working and their host institution at UT Austin.
