Overview
After three successful courses on topics related to Energy, the Texas Engineering Executive Education of the Cockrell School of Engineering (TxEEE) and the UT Austin Portugal Program are partnering again to provide energy professionals and academics based in Portugal new opportunities to attend online advanced training – this time on Energy Data Analytics.
The Portuguese context will be the focus of the second edition of the Energy Data Analytics training program, conducted by Dr. Joshua Rhodes, a research scientist at Webber Energy Group and lecturer at Cockrell School of Engineering.
Over the course of three two-hour sessions, starting on May 20, Portuguese energy professionals and academics will be able to better understand, analyze and increase their business possibilities based on a better understanding of large Portuguese energy datasets. No previous coding experience is required. In addition to the online classes, participants will be given the opportunity to visit directly with Dr Rhodes during four scheduled office hours before and throughout the week of the course.
Blending different teaching methods, this short course specifically designed for the Program’s community by TxEEE will give attendees the chance to get to grips with Python in order to analyze and produce large energy datasets, create graphics that allow them to establish context and build a supporting case and story.
Among the topics to be covered are Command line and Linux basics, Python basics and Python for data analytics, or Geospatial data analysis with Python.
As for the projects that participants can be invited to work on, analyzing the technical solar potential for Portugal, geospatial data for site-selection of power plants, or even creating charts of historical CO2 emissions are among some of the potential topics to delve into.
All vacancies have been filled in. You may register for this course, but your request will be put on hold. We will contact you if any enrolled participant drops out.
