Short Bio
Maria is a Ph.D. student and researcher at Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon’s Instituto de Biofísica e Engenharia Biomédica (IBEB). Her research focuses on developing breast models as tools to study tissue behavior following cancer treatment. Maria’s academic background includes an integrated BSc+MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from NOVA School of Science and Technology.
Work description
During her stay at UT Austin, Maria will focus on studying breast tissue response to mechanical stress and deformation from changes occurring due to disease and cancer therapies. Additionally, she will study the healing processes of tissues.
