Expertise Sought | I am looking for an expert in CFD implementation, advanced computing, or machine learning to advance the current numerical methods and obtain more accuracy and efficiency. It can also be a partner that requires CFD modelling for a specific application, benefiting from the immersed boundary method or the high-order schemes in turbulent flows. Another possible partner is someone that can benefit from my expertise with COMSOL multiphysics and requires mathematical modelling for a specific application in this call: analysing physics of cancer therapies, understanding properties of nanomaterials, studying new spacecrafts with multiphysics simulations (MHD and hypersonic flows). |
Bio:
Duarte is an Aerospace Engineer from IST at Lisbon, with a crazy passion for CFD. Because of this, he has taken a Computational Engineering Ph.D. Program from the UT Austin Portugal Program between 2009 and 2013, his favorite course was Parallel Computing.
His research interests are related to advanced CFD methods: immersed boundary method and high-order schemes. He has supervised ten Master’s Thesis and has other seven ongoing. He is the PI of an FCT project that studies these topics, with a total budget of 240k€. He is a key figure in two European projects where he implements multiphysics models with COMSOL to process materials with microwave heating.
