Expertise Sought | I am looking for partners that are interested in the optimization of both fluence but mainly beam direction optimization both for noncoplanar step-and-shoot IMRT and for noncoplanar VMAT trajectory optimization. I would like also to find partners working with protons that were willing to test/further develop our beam direction optimization algorithms. In general, I would like to connect with researchers that use optimization to improve RT treatment plans. |
Bio:
Humberto Rocha is an Assistant Professor at University of Coimbra and researcher at the Inesc-Coimbra and CeBER Research Centers. He received both his bachelor and master degrees in Applied Mathematics from the University of Coimbra in 1998 and 2001, respectively. In 2005, he completed a PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics at Old Dominion University (ODU) and NASA Langley Research Center, both in Virginia, USA. He received a medical degree from the University of Minho in 2015. His research centers on applications in physics, inverse engineering, medicine, and radiotherapy. This multidisciplinary approach lead to publications in a variety of journals of different areas, including Medical Physics, Physics in Medicine and Biology and Physica Medica. Most of his publications are in top journals of his area (Applied Mathematics), including SIAM Journal on Optimization, Journal of Global Optimization, Computational Optimization and Applications, Applied Mathematical Modeling, Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization.
