    Expertise Sought We are looking for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling expertise to speed up the process of design optimization of a new multipurpose wave energy converter, namely on what concerns:
    – Power take-off (PTO) which consists of a very low head axial turbine associated with an electric generator;
    – Mesh and fabric composite non-return valves;
    – Sea wave propagation and interaction with submerged structures.

    Bio:

    I graduated in Civil Engineering by the University of Coimbra, where I am an Assistant Professor, collaborating in courses of Water Supply and Sanitation, Water Resources Management and Offshore Structures, and teaching courses of Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics and Renewable Energy in Ph.D., MSc and postgraduate programs. I began my research activity in the field of numerical and experimental modelling of gravity water waves. After, I focused my research in the development of computational models for optimization of multipurpose small hydropower pants where I got my PhD by the University of Liège. I am author of a recently granted wave energy converter invention patent. Presently my research activity is centered in the development of an environmental-friendly multipurpose artificial reef for coastal protection and renewable electric energy production, recurring to both computational modelling and laboratorial small scale testing.
