Immersive Training in Advanced Computing – Scientific Visualization
June 11, 2019 | June 14, 2019
Are you ready to get more from your data than simple charts? Spend three days with Texas Advanced Computing Center’s visualization experts and learn how to generate rich, informative visualizations for your simulation results and data analyses. Get started with VisIt and Paraview, learn the basics of developing interesting and worthwhile geographic and information visualizations.
Within the framework of the UT Austin Portugal Program, an online scientific visualization training organized by TACC and relying on remote and local monitors, is open to the Portuguese scientific community directly from the premises of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto! With TACC’s area leader Paul Navrátil, and researchers Gregory Abram, Anne Bowen and João Barbosa, this immersive training will explore topics such as:
– Vis Landscape (Data/Sci/Info)
– Understanding Data and Tools/ Visualization Best Practices
– Color Theory
– Parallel Visualization/ Remote Collab Vis
– Hands-On: Sci Vis with Paraview Basic Tutorial
– Linux/TACC Basics
– Paraview (scripting, Animation Panel and extra topics)
– Conceptual Vis
– Introduction to Unity
The event will be held from June 11 to 13, from 15.00 to 22.30 and hosted by Ariel Guerreiro, from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). On June 14, the event will take place from 14:30 to 18:15.
Target Audience
This immersive training intends to introduce participants to some of the most current graphical analysis and visualization tools of the methodologies developed and used at TACC.
It aims to reach a target audience of several scientific areas and will include application exercises being taught jointly with various international institutions.
Registration
Participation is free but limited to 20 participants for the entire duration of the course. Selection will be made by order of registration.
Please note that participants registering for the 3-day workshop are also entitled to register for an exclusive hands-on session on Unity (intermediate level). The session will take place on June 14 and will also be organized by TACC with the support of FCUP. A minimum number of 8 participants is required to run the session.
Registration is now closed.
