Short Bio

Filipa Silva is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Porto. Her research activity is focused on the production and characterization of 2D nanomaterials for drug delivery and phototherapy applications in skin diseases.

Work description

During my stay at UT Austin, I will focus on producing new 2D nanomaterials with the potential to act as photothermal therapy agents for cancer treatment.

Expectations about the Short-term Research Internship

I expect to learn new methodologies and techniques to produce nanomaterials, increasing my knowledge in this field and reinforcing the collaboration between my research group in Portugal and my host at Austin.
